New Zealander Rob McCallum has a long history of arranging highly successful expeditions to remote and challenging locations. For the last 20 years Rob has arranged complex expeditions all around the world for Governments, the United Nations, private investors and commercial entities.
Rob is a prolific polar expeditioner and has participated in over 100 voyages to both the Arctic and Antarctic. In 2002/03 he was the lead guide for an expedition that completed a full-circumnavigation of the Antarctic Continent aboard the Icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov. On average, Rob organizes or leads 4-6 Antarctic expeditions per year. He also spends a lot of time in the Arctic and has lead expeditions to Greenland, the Russian Arctic, Svalbard, the Northwest Passage and the Canadian Arctic.
He served as the General Manager for Deep Ocean Expeditions for 7 years and was the expedition leader for expeditions to the RMS Titanic (3780m) and Bismarck (5500m). Rob has been extensively involved with ambitious extreme -depth diving projects all over the world including the Pacific hydrothermal vents, a live TV broadcast from inside the RMS Titanic, the first manned submersible dive at the North Pole and many others.
He was the operations manager during the rebuild of the MV Alucia, considered to be the worlds best private expedition ship for deep-water exploration. At the conclusion of the project Rob was the vessel manager for the Alucia’s debut mission to Brazil (the successful search for Air France 447). He was the project manager and advance instigator for private search’s for historic wrecks in Panama. He was the in-country manager for James Cameron’s ‘Deep Challenger’ test program in Papua New Guinea immediately prior to the historic successful solo dive to the Marianas Trench.
He is the founder of EYOS Expeditions, a highly successful niche company that arranges approx. 30 expeditions each year to the worlds Polar Regions and remote locations for the world’s super-yacht fleet. EYOS specializes in high-end expedition vessels, aircraft and specialty ships to execute their broad range of bespoke expeditions.
Rob is a Vice President and partner at Williamson and Associates, one of the worlds most successful sonar search companies. In addition to their remarkable string of successes with deep water (6000m) searches, they also manufacture deep water engineering equipment and hold several patents for innovative deep water design.
He is considered by his peers to have high standards of integrity, personal communication, commitment, loyalty and discretion.
